Ladies Lunch

On Tuesday, August 15th the ladies will have a pot luck luncheon and feature a presentation by members of Encore.

Encore is designed to meet the educational and enrichment needs of adults over fifty. It is part of NC State University’s extension and continuing education. It develops and presents seminars, short courses, study trips and special events on a wide range of topics. They will bring the Fall/Winter 2006 catalogs and present an overview of their programs. Bring your favorite specialty to share at the pot luck. RSVP by Monday, August 7th.

Tropical Island Night
Bring out your grass skirts, muumuus, tropical prints, leis and kukui beads and join us for an evening of tropical fun, food and entertainment on Saturday, August 26th! The highlight of the evening will be a variety of Polynesian dances performed by Aloha Makana, including a once in a lifetime opportunity for audience participation. Specific details are in the flyer insert in this newsletter, cost $18, RSVP, Monday, August 14th, 12 noon, seating is limited.


Bill Reh, NBC Channel 17’s weatherman, was here in June speaking to the Ladies Lunch.

Everyone enjoyed his informative talk on hurricanes and answered many questions for everyone.
You can watch him every morning from 6 am to 9 am.


Labor Day Pizza Party

Monday, September 4
Snacks - 5:00 pm/ Pizza - 6:00 pm
With dessert to follow. Please bring a snack or dessert to share. Cost is $3.00 per  person. RSVP by  Monday, August 21st.


Come join the fun as we  celebrate Grandparents Day on Monday, September 9, 2006 at 1:00p with our Grandchildren. 

The one and only Famous  Durham Bulls furry friend Wool’E Bull, so cute and cuddly with the longest tail, will be our guest and each family of children will have their picture taken (one picture per household) with him and he will autograph the picture for you. Specific details are in the  special sign up insert in this newsletter.

  • On June 24, 2006 , Milt & Diane Miskew renewed their vows at Christ Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Maryland, where they were originally married on June 23, 1956. Reverend Barron Maberry, brother of the bride performed the celebration ceremony. It was attended by their three sons, their wives and two grandchildren along with other family and friends. A reception followed.
