A Note from the President

I hope you will have a Happy Valentine’s Day! Did you know that this community really has heart?

Thanks to the Heritage Pines Hospitality Committee for always being there for us. During the past few months, several of our neighbors here at Heritage Pines have passed away leaving our community with a great loss. We have also had many ill residents who thankfully are recovering. The Hospitality committee consists of twelve dedicated volunteers who provide get well, thinking of you and sympathy cards to our homeowners. Betty Ecklund is the chairman of the Bereavement Committee. The HPCA also makes a $25.00 memorial donation to a charity chosen by the deceased homeowners family. They also offer a coffee and cake reception at the clubhouse for the family and friends of the deceased. This is a lovely way for our community members to meet the families and to pay our respects.

I know that many of you were not aware of this committee and might have wondered how you received that get well card when you were in need. A supply of cards, which have been donated by residents are used. Please note that the name of the hospitality chairman for the month is listed on the back sheet of the newsletter. Many of these ladies have been on this committee for several years. All donations of cards that you may wish to give will be greatly appreciated.

We really appreciate all you do ladies! This is just another way in which this community shows it really cares. How lucky we are to live here, in Heritage Pines, where people are always willing to go that ―extra mile‖ to help one another. If you know someone who is ill please contact Betty Ecklund with the information.

Looking forward to seeing you out and about,

Pat Schneider

Residents of Heritage Pines, Happy New Year! We hope you all had a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season. The scope of work for the month of February is as follows; we will be back pruning around the common areas and homes this month. Rex Volunteers

Thirty ladies from Heritage Pines have been meeting twice a month for over a year to work on projects for Rex Hospital. Approximately every three months, Lois Copeland of Rex Hospital Volunteers visits us to pick up our finished projects to be distributed to patients in Rex Hospital. Lois visited us on December 10th and was delighted to see all our finished work. These projects included drain and amenity bags, tote bags and pillows, baby hats and blankets and neck pillows. Our objective the past three months was holiday pillows and we finished 200 of them. These included stars, dogs, teddy bears, Christmas and Hanukkah pillows. Lois plans to distribute these pillows to patients who are in need of a little cheer during the holiday season.
Lois presented our volunteers with a "thank you" gift from Rex Hospital. It is a clock displaying time, day, date and temperature. We were all happy to receive it.

Our volunteers meet the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 1:30 pm. Check your calendar for the dates and come to the Clubhouse to join us. If you have any questions, please call Bernie Aliberti.
